In a miraculous operation in Uttarkashi, 41 workers trapped in the collapsed Silkyara tunnel were safely evacuated, marking a monumental achievement for India. Lieutenant General (Retired) Syed Ata Hasnain, a key official involved, acknowledged the illegal use of rat-hole mining to excavate the remaining portion, necessitated by the breakdown of machinery.

During a media briefing, Hasnain addressed concerns about the legality of the mining technique, highlighting the expertise of the miners involved despite its unlawful nature.

Prime Minister Modi lauded the exemplary teamwork and humanity displayed during the rescue mission. He praised the workers' courage and patience and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various organizations, including the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude for PM Modi's constant support, emphasizing the continuous communication and instructions for medical check-ups and arrangements to safely transport the workers home.

The collapsed tunnel, a result of a landslide on Diwali morning, saw multiple agencies mobilize for the rescue. Oxygen, electricity, and provisions were supplied to the trapped workers through air-compressed pipes.

This incident showcases both the resilience of the human spirit and the effectiveness of coordinated efforts in mitigating disasters. The successful evacuation stands as a testament to the collective dedication of multiple organizations, bringing hope and relief to those affected.
