Cow Vigilante

In a significant development, Monu Manesar, a prominent figure associated with the cow vigilante wing of Bajrang Dal, has been apprehended in Haryana. He is facing charges in Rajasthan for his alleged involvement in the brutal killing of two Muslim cattle traders, Junaid and Nasir, earlier this year. This incident sent shockwaves across the region when their charred bodies were discovered in a burnt SUV in Loharu, Bhiwani, on February 16.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Monu Manesar was taken into custody by an undisclosed team while he was at a market in Manesar's Sector 1. However, there has been no official confirmation or communication regarding his arrest from the authorities.

The tragic incident involving the murder of Junaid and Nasir, cousins and residents of Ghatmika village in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district, had garnered widespread attention. They were allegedly abducted, brutally beaten, and subsequently murdered. The incident sparked outrage and condemnation from various quarters.

Monu Manesar's alleged involvement in this case stems from his suspected role in inciting violence through inflammatory social media posts. Communal clashes erupted during the Bajrang Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad's Shobha Yatra in Nuh, Haryana, leading to widespread violence that resulted in the deaths of six individuals. Mobs were reported to have set fire to and vandalized numerous establishments after the clashes, which also spread to Gurugram.

Haryana's Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, had previously indicated that the Rajasthan Police had the freedom to act. This came after videos suggesting Monu Manesar's participation in the annual religious procession in Nuh were believed to have triggered the violence despite his absence.

Authorities are expected to provide further updates in the coming days.
