Curfew Calm

Amid the ongoing unrest in Haryana's Nuh, the state government has decided to lift curfew temporarily for the movement of the public, said an official order on Sunday.

Haryana's district is experiencing a brief respite as the curfew is set to be temporarily lifted for a four-hour window on Monday.

The curfew was imposed in response to clashes between communities on August 1, the curfew will now ease between 9 am and 1 pm, permitting limited public movement.

As per a report by ANI, a three-hour relaxation from 9 am to 12 noon allowed residents to purchase vegetables at Nuh Sabzi Mandi today. However, mobile internet services will remain suspended until August 8, owing to the prevailing critical and tense conditions, as confirmed by the Haryana home secretary.

The unrest originated with an attack on a religious procession by mobs, subsequently leading to more violence and damage in nearby Gurugram. The sectarian riots have resulted in the loss of six lives, including two home guards and a cleric.

In response to the ongoing tensions, local authorities have taken action by demolishing a restaurant-cum-hotel and over 45 shops in the Nalhar Road area, reportedly used for violent activities. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar directed these measures, targeting establishments associated with individuals involved in the communal violence.

Despite the temporary curfew relief, authorities remain vigilant, acknowledging the volatility of the situation in the district. Implementing preventive measures and maintaining careful monitoring are essential to prevent any further escalation of unrest.
