Dubai: Captagon Drug Smuggled Inside Furniture Worth $1 Billion Seized by Police

The United Arab Emirates stopped a big plan to sneak 13 tonnes of a strong drug called captagon into the country. It was hidden inside doors and building panels. Six people were arrested, and it was a huge smuggling operation. The drug was worth over $1 billion.
The drug pills were hidden In a very smart way. They were inside 432 fancy furniture panels and 651 well-made doors. It took a long time to get the pills out. The UAE is very serious about protecting its people from any harm. The Interior Minister said this on Twitter. They even have a video showing the suspects trying to bring the drug through a port.
Captagon used to be a medicine with a special ingredient called fenethylline. But now, it’s not made legally anymore. But in the Middle East, they often find fake drugs with the name captagon. Most of the world’s captagon comes from Syria, and it's mostly sent to the Gulf region. This is worrying for many countries. The US even made a law about it in 2022, saying it’s a security threat connected to Syria.
