In a major development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets amounting to Rs 52.24 crore belonging to senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia and several others in connection with an ongoing investigation into an excise policy case.

The move comes as part of the ED’s efforts to curb corruption and financial irregularities in the country. The ED, which is responsible for enforcing economic laws and combating financial crimes in India, initiated the investigation into the excise policy case following allegations of irregularities and improprieties.

Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and a prominent AAP leader, along with a few others, has been under the scanner of the agency. The investigation conducted by the ED has unearthed a complex web of financial transactions and alleged wrongdoing in the excise policy case.

The agency suspects that certain individuals, including Manish Sisodia, might have received illegal gratification in exchange for favoritism in granting licenses and other benefits related to the excise policy.

According to sources, the ED has provisionally attached assets worth Rs 52.24 crore, which include residential properties, commercial establishments, and other assets linked to Manish Sisodia and his associates.

The attachment of assets is a preventive measure aimed at ensuring that the accused do not dispose of or transfer their properties during the ongoing investigation.

The ED’s move to attach assets worth Rs 52.24 crore of Manish Sisodia and others in the excise policy case marks a significant step in the ongoing battle against corruption. It sends a strong message that those found guilty of financial improprieties will face the consequences of their actions, regardless of their positions or affiliations.
