Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to address a significant rally in Kashmir's Anantnag district next month, marking his first visit to the Valley after the Article 370 abrogation. The BJP is strategically focusing on this region for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant journey to Jammu and Kashmir in March, marking a monumental occasion as his first visit to the Valley since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. This visit holds immense political weight, as it aligns with the BJP's election campaign strategy for the impending Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May this year.
Sources
within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have disclosed that Prime Minister Modi
will be addressing a public rally in the Anantnag district, showcasing the
party's concerted efforts to bolster its presence in the region. The rally,
slated to occur between March 14 to 17, awaits final confirmation from the
Prime Minister's Office.
The
BJP's keen focus on the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat underscores its
strategic imperative to secure electoral dominance in key areas of both Kashmir
and Jammu. Historically, this seat comprised the southern Kashmir districts of
Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Anantnag, now merged with Rajouri-Poonch areas.
The upcoming rally in Anantnag signals a pivotal moment in the BJP's engagement with the Kashmir Valley post the constitutional reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories. Notably, the Valley has been a contentious region with regard to Indian politics, and Prime Minister Modi's visit holds symbolic significance in bridging political divides and fostering a sense of inclusion.

Moreover,
this visit serves as a testament to the BJP's commitment to development and
outreach in the erstwhile state. It follows Prime Minister Modi's recent rally
in Jammu on February 20, during which he announced a slew of developmental
projects totaling Rs 32,000 crore.
By
choosing Anantnag as the venue for his address, Prime Minister Modi aims to
connect directly with the people of Kashmir, reinforcing the government's
message of progress and prosperity for all regions. This visit also highlights
the BJP's determination to consolidate its support base in the Valley, a region
historically marked by complex socio-political dynamics.
In
essence, Prime Minister Modi's forthcoming rally in Anantnag signifies a watershed
moment in India's political landscape, encapsulating the aspirations of the
people of Kashmir while reaffirming the government's resolve to foster unity
and development across the nation.
