These provide information about loans for two-wheelers and consumer durables. On March 6, HDB Financial Services flags data breach incident at one of the service providers that handle client information. The information was stolen from one of the loan service providers and it is believed to have 73 million entries from May 2022 to February 2023. HDB Financial Services “To stop any further illegal access, we have taken immediate action to safeguard the service provider's system. In order to stop such events from happening in the future, we are also conducting a thorough examination of the security measures implemented by the service provider”, HDB Financial Services commented. The leaked data dump includes details about customer loan applications, including whether they were approved or denied as well as the amount of the loan approved. “Very often, such data breaches are followed by ransom requests from hackers; however, it is unclear if any such demand was made”, commented an investigator. According to HDFC Bank, the incident had no impact on them. “We want to make it clear that HDFC Bank has no data leaks and that no unauthorized access has been made to our systems.
