In view of the heavy rainfall forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) over the next two days, the Himachal Pradesh disaster management authority has issued an alert.

The monsoon season in Himachal Pradesh has wreaked havoc on the state's infrastructure with landslides and flash floods. Public Works Department Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, issued a concerning report on Thursday, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

He revealed that as many as 330 roads have been forced to shut down due to the devastating impact of these rain-triggered disasters. Among the affected routes, the closure of two main four-lane roads, particularly the Kalka-Shimla road, has further increased transportation difficulties.

The minister expressed his hopefulness as he informed, "In the next 2 days, CM will be meeting PM Modi, Union Home Minister and Finance Minister and I am hopeful they will support us."

The impact of the monsoon in Himachal Pradesh has been devastating, as indicated by the data revealed by the state disaster management authority. Over the course of 41 days since the monsoon onset, nearly 200 deaths have been recorded, with an additional 31 people reported missing.

The severity of the situation is evident from the 79 landslides and 53 flash flood incidents that have been recorded across the state.
