After being questioned by the Enforcement
Directorate (ED), Abhishek Banerjee, who is a Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and
national general secretary, stated that he fulfilled his responsibility. He
went to the ED office, participated in the investigation, responded to the
questions asked to the best of his ability, and did his part.
He also mentioned that he had told the ED that
whenever they need him, he’ll come and help with their investigation to the
best of his abilities.
He believes that the ED officials are wasting
time, and based on past experiences, no clear outcomes are achieved after such
lengthy questioning. He doesn’t blame the agency officials, as they are just
doing their job. However, he feels that despite spending nine to ten hours
during previous questioning sessions, nothing substantial has come out of it,
and it’s been the same each time.
Abhishek Banerjee, a member of the TMC, was
asked to come to the ED office in Kolkata because of an alleged recruitment
scam. This summons happened a few weeks after the ED searched the office of
‘Leaps and Bounds Pvt Ltd,’ which the agency said was involved in suspicious
financial activities worth a lot of money. The ED also said that Banerjee is
the CEO of this company.
In response to the ED’s notice, Abhishek
Banerjee mentioned that he was asked to appear before the agency on September
13, which is the same day when the Opposition INDIA bloc’s coordination
committee is supposed to have a meeting in Delhi.
