India announces E Medical Visa for Bangladeshi people New Bangladesh Embassy in Rangpur

PM Modi announced e-medical visas for Bangladeshis and a new embassy in Rangpur during talks with PM Sheikh Hasina. The leaders discussed bilateral ties, emphasizing India's "Neighborhood First" policy and the importance of Bangladesh as a development partner.

The following are the main steps initiated by Narendra Modi to improve the cooperation between two countries, India and Bangladesh during the press conference of joint meeting with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday. It was when the two leaders were having a bilateral meeting at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi. 

E-Medical Visas for Bangladeshis

In this regard, PM Modi said this when he announced the plan to to introduce an e-medical visa facility for Bangladeshi citizens who wish to come to India for treatment to enhance medical tourism. This is in effort to ease the process of providing visas and to ensure that the Bangladeshi’s receive the correct medical attention in India. 

Creation of A New Diplomatic Office in Rangpur

Modi also announced that it was agreed with Bangladesh to establish a new Assistant High Commission in Rangpur. This decision is going to be beneficial in improving the diplomatic services of the people in the northwestern region of Bangladesh.

Prior to the press briefing for the press, both leaders had detailed discussions on different issues in the agenda. Particularly Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived New Delhi on Friday itself for her first state visit after formation of new Indian government and she was given guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

On the need to emphasize the relation of the two countries, PM Modi, said “Bangladesh is India’s largest development partner and we consider our relations with Bangladesh as most important. ” This makes the visit to reflect the strong partnership between the two countries in the areas of security, trade, energy, defense among others. 

The Modi-Hasina meeting will help in fostering the bilateral ties between the two countries for the Implementation of Neighbourhood First policy. 

In the same vein, he also blessed both the teams of the countries for the Cricket World Cup match that was to be held later in the evening.
