India Expresses Deep Anguish Over US Student's Brutal Murder, Mortal Remains Repatriated

The brutal murder of Indian student Vivek Saini in Lithonia, US, has sparked outrage. The Consulate General in Atlanta condemned the heinous act, providing consular support for repatriating Saini's mortal remains. The assailant, a homeless drug addict, was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing. Saini's family in Haryana mourns the loss of a promising young man.

In a harrowing incident that unfolded in Lithonia City, Georgia, 25-year-old Indian student Vivek Saini faced a brutal demise at the hands of a homeless drug addict he had been assisting. The Consulate General of India in Atlanta expressed deep anguish over the incident and condemned the heinous act. The consulate facilitated consular access for the repatriation of Saini's mortal remains, underscoring the severity of the tragedy.

Vivek Saini, an MBA graduate in the United States, had extended kindness to the assailant, Julian Faulkner, providing him with essentials such as chips, a Coke, water, and even a jacket. Saini's compassionate gestures took a tragic turn when he urged Faulkner to leave, fearing for his safety. The situation escalated, leading Faulkner to ruthlessly attack Saini, striking him nearly 50 times on the head with a hammer. The horrifying incident was captured on camera, revealing the brutality of the assault.

The Consulate General, actively engaged in the aftermath, maintained communication with Saini's family while an ongoing investigation sought justice for the young student. Expressing profound grief, the consulate emphasized the severity of the attack, stating, "We are deeply anguished by the terrifying, brutal, & heinous incident that led to the death of Indian National/student Mr Vivek Saini & condemns attack in the strongest terms."

Saini's mortal remains were repatriated to India on January 24, providing some solace to his grieving family in Haryana. The Consulate General assured prompt consular assistance to the family during this challenging time. The authorities in Georgia acted swiftly upon visual evidence, arresting Faulkner and initiating an investigation into the tragic incident.

Vivek Saini, a promising student who had migrated to the US two years ago, had recently completed his MBA, adding to the grief of his family who described him as a brilliant individual aspiring for a decent job. Gurjeet Singh and Lalita Saini, the bereaved parents, find themselves devastated and unable to comprehend the tragic loss of their son.
