India, represented by BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, firmly countered Pakistan’s Kashmir remarks at a UN peacekeeping debate, reiterating the region’s status as integral to India. Trivedi underscored India’s significant contributions to UN peacekeeping and called for practical mandates and accountability for crimes against peacekeepers.
India issued a strong rebuttal at the United Nations after Pakistan raised Jammu and Kashmir during a peacekeeping debate. Sudhanshu Trivedi, BJP spokesperson and Member of Parliament, exercised India’s right to reply, condemning Pakistan for using the forum to push “falsehoods.” Trivedi reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir “was, is and will remain an integral part of India,” noting that the region recently held democratic elections.
Trivedi further clarified that UN peacekeeping operations, which Pakistan referred to, have no relevance following the Simla Agreement that led to the establishment of the Line of Control, rendering the UN Military Observer Group on India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) obsolete.
He criticized Pakistan for attempting to divert attention from pressing issues, emphasizing that India would not engage in further discussions on such “non-substantive” points. Trivedi later posted on social media, expressing India’s firm stance on maintaining Jammu and Kashmir's status as an integral part of the country.

As part of India’s broader stance at the UN, Trivedi emphasized India’s leading role in peacekeeping operations, being the largest cumulative contributor of troops. He advocated for “realistic mandates” in peacekeeping missions to ensure effectiveness and called for accountability for crimes against peacekeepers, stressing that peacekeeping missions should aim for clear exit strategies.
