India and the United States are building a stronger relationship, overcoming past suspicions, and forging deeper ties, according to Mukesh Aghi, President and CEO of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum. Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US, Aghi highlighted the evolving relationship between the two countries.

Aghi acknowledged that India is taking an independent position in international forums but also lends support to the US stance. He referred to PM Modi’s address to the joint session of Congress, where he emphasized the need to overcome historical hesitations between the two nations.

A key aspect of the developing relationship is the transfer of technology. Aghi mentioned that India is seeking technology transfer, particularly in the area of General Electric engines, and expects defense equipment orders from the US.

With a population of 1.4 billion and increasing spending power, India offers significant trade and investment opportunities for US companies.

Aghi also addressed the importance of Indian Americans in strengthening ties between the two countries. He noted that Indian Americans are considered the most affluent and educated minority group by US President Joe Biden.
