India defeated Bangladesh by 60 runs in a T20 World Cup warm-up match, with Rishabh Pant's 53 helping post 182/5 before the bowlers dismissed Bangladesh for 122/9.
The Indian men’s cricket team achieved a comfortable victory against Bangladesh by 60 runs in a warm-up T20 World Cup match played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
India batted first and managed to score 182/5 in their 20 overs riding on Rishabh Pant’s aggressive 53 in 32 balls, Suryakumar Yadav’s 31 off 18 balls, and a power-packed 40 off 23 balls by Hardik Pandya. The Indian bowlers then came into the picture and skittled Bangladesh for 122/9 on the day.
Left-arm seamer of the team, Arshdeep Singh continued to shine with the ball and bagged 2 wickets in 12 runs in 3 overs as all-rounder Shivam Dube also claimed 2 wickets in 13 runs.
But head coach Rahul Dravid criticized pitch conditions, describing it as soft and spongy, and warned that it might harm the hamstring and calf muscles of the players. Even though the pitch was not the best that could be asked for, Dravid was happy with the way the Indian team batted.
‘On balance, we received a good run-around and to get a game here is nice’, Dravid said adding, ‘Hopefully, we can prepare well for the next couple of days and be ready’.
Arshdeep Singh admitted to the conditions of having to play on the sandy surface but noted that the team was coping well with the conditions after intense practice.
