Imran Khan

Following Imran Khan's arrest, party leader and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, divisions have become visible within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). However, senior PTI figures Omer Ayub Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi firmly denied allegations of fragmentation and leadership substitution, as reported by Geo News on Saturday. Ayub Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi firmly asserted that "no one can replace Imran Khan."

Geo News reported, citing sources, that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) top body, known as the core committee, is under the leadership of Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Qureshi is presently managing the party's operations following Imran Khan's arrest. However, there are indications of a split within the party.

Accusations have arisen, claiming that certain committee members were behind the leaking of confidential information and recordings of core committee discussions. These accounts imply that some members within the party now argue against discussing crucial matters within the core committee.

Sources from within the PTI informed Geo News that during a meeting, opposing factions engaged in heated exchanges and labeled each other as "traitors."

Sources within party said that the secretary-general kept talking to the person who called him a traitor in the core committee. They also said that Omar Ayub and Shah Mahmood Qureshi both want to become the PTI leader after Imran Khan.

Earlier, a PTI leader named Sher Afzal Khan Marwat said that there are traitors in the core committee and Imran Khan's legal team, and they have put Imran Khan's life in danger.

Qureshi stated in a press conference that there is no truth to such reports, and he asserted that no one is replacing Imran Khan. According to Geo News, Omar Ayub described the report as entirely fabricated and reiterated that Imran Khan is their Chairman and will remain Chairman of PTI. He also denied the existence of any groups within PTI or the core committee.
