Ireland's women's cricket team was fined for their slow over rate during their match against Australia in Dublin.

Philip Thompson, who is part of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, took action by imposing a sanction on Ireland when they were found to be two overs short of the required over-rate target, even after considering time allowances. This decision was based on Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which specifically deals with minimum over-rate violations.

As per ICC, players are subject to a fine of five per cent of their match fee for each of their teams failing to bowl within the stipulated time. Captain Laura Delany not only pled guilty to the offence but also willingly accepted the proposed sanction. Therefore the need for a formal hearing did not arise.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Jareth McCready and Paul Reynolds, in conjunction with third umpire Mark Hawthorne. Meanwhile, the Australian team delivered a sensational all-round performance, securing a triumphant victory in the match.

During the Australia Women's tour of Ireland, they encountered a washed-out first game, resulting in no play. However, in the second ODI, Australia dominated, triumphing over the hosts with a commanding 153-run margin and taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Opting to bat first, Australia set an imposing total of 321/7 in their allotted 50 overs after opting to bat first. Ellyse Perry led the charge with a composed 91 runs off 99 balls. Ashleigh Gardner's knock of 65 from just 39 deliveries, including seven fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 166.67, provided momentum to the innings.

Georgina Dempsey claimed four wickets for 54 runs in her 10-over spell. While pursuing the challenging target, Gaby Lewis and Amy Hunter showed great performance with scores of 37 and 50, respectively, for Ireland. However, their dismissals marked the beginning of the hosts' downfall.

Skipper Laura Delany contributed 18 runs, but the rest of the batting order struggled, with none of the remaining eight batters managing to reach double-digit scores. The combined efforts of the Australian bowlers effectively restricted Ireland to a mere 168 runs in 38.2 overs, securing a resounding victory for the visitors.
