External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, speaking at the 19th Nani A Palkhivala Memorial Lecture in Mumbai, criticised Pakistan for fostering cross-border terrorism, describing it as a “cancer now consuming its own body politic.” Highlighting India’s strained ties with its neighbour, Jaishankar attributed the issues to Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism.

He underscored India’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation and stability, citing India’s aid to Sri Lanka during its 2023 economic crisis, where a $4 billion relief package was provided. Jaishankar contrasted this with global inaction, showcasing India's role as a regional "insurance" during crises.
