Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal responded to the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) summons regarding the liquor policy case, terming it illegal and politically motivated. AAP questioned the timing, stating Kejriwal's Vipassana session was pre-scheduled. Legal actions are being evaluated.
In
response to the Enforcement Directorate's summons related to the Delhi liquor policy case, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, currently undergoing a 10-day
Vipassana meditation course, retaliated against the ED's notice. He labeled it
as politically motivated and illegal, highlighting his willingness to adhere to
legal summons but criticizing the current one as unjust, much like the previous
ones.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), amidst this, questioned the timing of the ED's summons, emphasizing that their legal experts are reviewing the notice to take appropriate and legally sound measures. The notice demanded Kejriwal's presence before the agency on December 21, while AAP officials noted that his participation in the Vipassana session had been pre-planned and publicly announced.
AAP's
Raghav Chadha reiterated that the CM's regular participation in the meditation
course was a scheduled event, known to the public. They emphasized Kejriwal's
commitment to honesty and transparency, asserting there was nothing to conceal.
The
situation has sparked a political debate, with AAP defending Kejriwal's absence
during the scheduled ED questioning, citing the pre-planned nature of his
meditation retreat. The party pledged to respond to the ED's notice through
legal channels, further intensifying the ongoing legal and political discourse
surrounding the issue.
The
controversy surrounding the summons and Kejriwal's response has heightened
tensions between the AAP and the BJP, with both parties presenting divergent
viewpoints on the matter.
