Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has challenged PM Narendra Modi to address real economic issues instead of spreading misinformation. He criticized the government's handling of the economy, citing high inflation and stagnant wages, while Modi accused Congress of failing to deliver on its promises.

In a heated exchange of words, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address genuine economic concerns rather than what he described as "lies" about the Opposition. Kharge's remarks follow Modi's recent criticism of Congress for failing to fulfill its electoral promises, asserting that the party is "badly exposed" for making unrealistic commitments.

Kharge took to social media to express his grievances about the current state of the Indian economy, accusing the Modi-led government of fostering "economic turmoil." He stated, “Fake narratives cannot be a substitute for REAL welfare,” highlighting issues such as high inflation, decreased consumer demand, and wage stagnation. He criticized the government's policies for allegedly looting the common citizen and failing to improve the economic conditions, even during festive seasons.

In a detailed critique, Kharge pointed to several economic indicators to substantiate his claims: soaring food prices, declining sales in the fast-moving consumer goods sector, a drop in household savings, and stagnating wages for laborers. He argued that, between 2014 and 2021, inflation-adjusted wages had barely increased, demonstrating the detrimental effects of the BJP's policies on the workforce.

Modi's prior comments about Congress's unfulfilled promises seemed to spark Kharge's response, especially as the Congress party navigates fiscal challenges, including potential reviews of welfare schemes in states like Karnataka. As the political landscape intensifies ahead of upcoming elections, both leaders continue to shape their narratives around economic performance and accountability.
