The Lok Sabha's suspension of 141 MPs, including Thomas Chazhikadan and AM Ariff, has incited a national uproar. The move followed protests demanding Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on a security breach. This action triggered widespread opposition outrage, leading to plans for nationwide protests by the I.N.D.I.A. coalition.
Amidst
escalating tensions in the Lok Sabha, two more MPs, Thomas Chazhikadan and AMAriff, faced suspension for the remainder of the Winter Session due to
misconduct. Their suspension added to the total count of 143 MPs facing
repercussions for inappropriate behavior, triggering a nationwide furor.
The
opposition condemned the suspension as undemocratic, emphasizing the display of
placards demanding Home Minister Amit Shah's statement regarding the recent
security breach in Parliament. Conversely, the government justified the action,
accusing the suspended MPs of insulting parliamentary figures and the
institution itself.
This move prompted the I.N.D.I.A. coalition to announce nationwide anti-government protests scheduled for Friday. Amidst these developments, a political rift widened as Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Banerjee mimicked Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar during a protest, drawing strong condemnation from the ruling BJP.
