State-owned oil companies have reduced commercial LPG cylinder prices by ₹30 from July 1, 2024. A 19 kg cylinder now costs ₹1,646 in Delhi, down from ₹1,676. Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged. The revision affects major cities differently.

This will bring joy to the commercial facilities bearing the brunt of elevated prices as state backed Oil Marketing Companies have cut the cost of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹30 from today. This is part of the normal market trend as it is a common feature to see a change in the LPG prices by the major oil companies every month.

After this cut, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will be sold at ₹1,646 as opposed to the previous ₹1,676 in Delhi. Similar trends have prevailed in other large cities; for instance, Mumbai sells cylinders at ₹ 1,598, while Kolkata at ₹ 1,756.

In particular, the level of domestic prices remains unchanged, and for the given price of $14. 2 kg LPG cylinders. Delhi consumers will still have to purchase cylinders at ₹ 803 per cylinder, Kolkata consumers at ₹ 829 per cylinder, and consumers in ₹ 818. 45 in Delhi, ₹700 in Mumbai, ₹500 in Kolkata, and ₹450 in Chennai, and ₹802. 50 in Mumbai.

The price change is effected on the first day of every month by the state controlled oil marketing companies of the country which include the Indian Oil Corporation, the Bharat Petroleum Corporation limited, and the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation limited. These revisions depend on the average of the benchmark fuel prices in the international market as well as the foreign exchange rates.

This move will in one way or the other bring some sort of relief with regards to costs to some of the many businesses that use LPG such as restaurants, catering services and other commercial enterprises. However, given the fact that domestic cylinder prices have not been reviewed, the revised tariffs are not likely to impact the household budgets in any way.

These monthly changes should be attended by the consumers and businesses since they can greatly affect operational costs as well as the costs for electricity consumption among households and business establishments.
