Seven people were killed in a terrorist attack at a construction site in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir. A massive search operation has been launched to track the attackers, suspected to be foreigners. The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is expected to join the investigation.
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district have launched a massive search operation following a terrorist attack on a construction site in which seven people, including a Kashmiri doctor, were killed. The attack occurred on Sunday at a tunnel-construction site along the Srinagar-Leh national highway, leaving six workers and a doctor dead, while five others were injured.
The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. The victims included three laborers, a manager, a mechanical engineer, a designer, and the doctor. Those injured in the attack are currently being treated at Srinagar’s SKIMS Hospital.
Eyewitnesses reported that two terrorists carried out the strike, with security forces and police immediately initiating a manhunt to track down the attackers. Although officials have not identified any local militants in the region, suspicions have arisen that the attackers may be foreign nationals.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is expected to visit the site to assist in the investigation. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack, calling it a "dastardly and cowardly" act, and expressed condolences to the victims' families.
