In the run-up to the Mizoram Assembly elections, the Congress party has raised serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). They have accused the BJP of meddling with its Mizoram ally, the Mizo National Front (MNF), and exploiting regional parties for their political advantage.

Congress has gone as far as claiming that casting a vote for the MNF or the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) in the upcoming Mizoram polls is effectively a vote in favor of the BJP. Jairam Ramesh, a prominent Congress leader, labeled the BJP's actions as hypocritical, considering they had a five-year association with the MNF.

In a social media post on X, previously known as Twitter, Jairam Ramesh criticized the BJP's leaders, JP Nadda and Nitin Gadkari, for suddenly finding fault with their Mizoram ally. He highlighted the contradiction, stating, "This is sheer hypocrisy! They merrily went along with MNF's non-performance and corruption over the past five years and are now finding fault."

Furthermore, Jairam accused the BJP of exploiting regional parties for their political gain, which, he argued, ultimately harms the people of the northeast. He pointed to an incident in Meghalaya where Amit Shah criticized his ally, Conrad Sangma's government, as the most corrupt in the country during an election campaign. Still, later, he extended his support, illustrating how the BJP allegedly manipulates regional parties.

Jairam Ramesh emphasized that it should be crystal clear to the voters that supporting the ZPM and MNF in Mizoram is, in reality, supporting the BJP.

As the Assembly elections in Mizoram approach on November 7, senior Congress leaders, including Jairam Ramesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Shashi Tharoor, are expected to visit the state to campaign for their party's candidates. The election results will be announced on December 3.

Mizoram Congress media cell president Lalremrutha Ranthali disclosed that Priyanka Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor are likely to campaign in linguistic minority areas in the southern and western parts of Mizoram on November 3 and 4. This move underscores the significance of the upcoming elections in the region.
