Modi Cabinet Raises Dearness Allowance by 4%, Allocates Rs 10,000 Crore for Northeast

The Modi Cabinet has approved significant measures including a 4% hike in Dearness Allowance for Central government employees, impacting over 49.18 lakh employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. This move aligns with the 7th Central Pay Commission's recommendations, aiming at better welfare. Additionally, substantial budgets were allocated for various developmental schemes.

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing welfare and development, the Modi Cabinet has greenlit a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central government employees. This progressive decision, effective from January 1, 2024, is projected to benefit 49.18 lakh employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. The hike, in line with the 7th Central Pay Commission's recommendations, is set to significantly augment the financial well-being of beneficiaries. Additionally, the Cabinet has given the nod to a plethora of crucial initiatives.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal, while elaborating on the Cabinet's decisions, highlighted the extension of the Rs 300 subsidy to PM Ujjwala Yojana consumers until March 31, 2025. This initiative, aimed at providing essential support, will entail a total expenditure of Rs 12,000 crores. Moreover, the Cabinet approved the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Raw Jute for the 2024-25 season, setting it at Rs 5,335 per quintal. This marks a notable increase of Rs 285 per quintal over the previous season's MSP, further empowering farmers and boosting the agricultural sector.

Furthermore, in a significant move towards technological advancement, the government has greenlit a comprehensive national-level IndiaAI mission. With a substantial budget outlay exceeding Rs 10,000 crores, this mission aims to harness the potential of artificial intelligence for national development. Additionally, the Cabinet has approved a scheme worth Rs 10,237 crores to promote industrialization in the Northeast region. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to fostering economic growth and infrastructural development in strategically important areas.

Overall, the Modi Cabinet's recent decisions underscore its proactive stance towards fostering inclusive growth and development across various sectors, thereby propelling the nation towards a path of sustained progress and prosperity.
