PM Modi alleged certain countries and institutions are conspiring with the opposition to undermine India's development, accusing Congress of benefiting from this purported conspiracy to weaken the nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has alleged that certain foreign countries and institutions are actively trying to undermine India's progress, accusing the opposition Congress party of being complicit in this "conspiracy" to weaken the nation for profiteering motives.
Addressing a rally in Karnataka's Vijayanagara on Sunday, Modi stated, "When the country is moving fast, some countries and some institutions don't like it. There are many people who don't like a strong India. They want the country and its government to be weak, so that they can make profits easily."
The Prime Minister directly called out the Congress party, warning "I want to tell the Congress and its allies in clear terms that however much effort you make to stall the BJP, India will be a developed nation."
Modi claimed his government has ushered in an era of transparency since 2014, alleging past regimes were mired in corruption that benefited external forces. "There is a drive for cleanliness in the corridors of power since 2014," he asserted.
The combative allegations have stoked tensions with the opposition ahead of crucial state elections. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi recently accused Modi of "undermining democracy" by allegedly cracking down on dissent and the opposition's voice.

Speaking in Gujarat on Saturday, she cited the suspension of Congress MPs, jailing of opposition leaders, and the freezing of her party's accounts as examples of the "weakening of democracy" under Modi's tenure.
The escalating war of words underscores the bitter political divide as India heads into a heated election season. The opposition has vehemently denied the Prime Minister's charges of any conspiracy involving foreign players to destabilize the nation's progress.
