The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially declared that Pakistan's general elections will be held in the final week of January 2024.

This announcement comes after the ECP conducted a thorough review of constituency delimitation and is set to unveil its preliminary list on September 27, as reported by Dawn News.

The ECP's meticulous process involves the consideration of objections and further arguments on the initial constituency list, culminating in the release of the final list on November 30. Following this, a 54-day election campaign program will commence, leading up to the much-anticipated elections in late January.

Pakistan's Election Commission has confirmed that general elections will be held in January 2024 after a comprehensive constituency review process.

This decision to hold the general elections follows the premature dissolution of Pakistan's national assembly on August 9. The previous government, led by Shehbaz Sharif, had raised concerns by asserting that elections should only occur once a new census was completed, potentially delaying the electoral process into the next year.

According to constitutional norms, elections were originally meant to be conducted within 90 days of the dissolution of the National Assembly. However, the government's insistence on completing the census had cast doubts on this timeline.

The ECP faced pressure from various political parties in Pakistan to expedite the delimitation process, which typically takes around four months to finalize.
