Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight over the Bharat Ratna announcement for the late socialist leader, Karpoori Thakur. The Rashtrapati Bhavan declared the prestigious honor, acknowledging Thakur's pivotal role in championing social justice and empowerment. Modi highlighted the significance of conferring this honor during Thakur's birth centenary.

"Delighted that the Bharat Ratna will be conferred upon Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Ji. This recognition, during his centenary, honors his enduring efforts for the marginalized," stated Prime Minister Modi. Thakur's unwavering commitment to uplift the downtrodden and promote equality left an indelible mark on India's socio-political fabric.

Leaders of the current era, including JD(U) president Nitish Kumar and RJD head Lalu Prasad, consider Thakur their mentor. Both parties organized functions to commemorate the leader's birth anniversary, reflecting on his influence from the Mandal era.

Born in 1924 in the Nai Samaj, a backward section of society, Thakur's political journey centered on empowering marginalized sections. Serving as Bihar's chief minister, he fought against social discrimination and inequality, pioneering policies that brought significant changes to education, employment, and farmer welfare.
