The Mumbai police are delving into the possibility of multiple individuals being involved in the recent stabbing of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor, attacked six times in his Bandra apartment on January 16, underwent surgery and has since been discharged from Lilavati Hospital.

Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, alias Vijay Das, a Bangladeshi national, was arrested on January 19 in Thane. A court has extended his custody until January 29, as police suspect the involvement of additional accomplices in the crime.

The investigation has faced challenges due to the accused's non-cooperation. According to officials, Shariful has refused to disclose the source of the knife used in the attack. Meanwhile, fingerprints collected from the crime scene match those of the accused.

Shariful’s father, Mohammad Ruhul, speaking from Bangladesh, expressed his intent to seek his son's release through the Bangladeshi foreign ministry and the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. Ruhul stated that his son lacked proper documentation for staying in India and lived in fear of arrest.

The police are exploring all angles to identify any potential co-conspirators. While no further arrests have been made, investigators are working to determine whether others were involved in orchestrating the attack.
