Priyanka Gandhi, vying for Wayanad's Lok Sabha seat, pledged to be a strong advocate, citing her experience as a housewife with a "loud voice." She accused the BJP of fostering division and favoritism toward business allies, emphasizing that Wayanad’s harmony reflects Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals. The by-election is November 13.
In her campaign for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi connected with voters by humorously referencing her experience as a housewife for over 30 years, saying this has given her a "loud voice" to champion their concerns. Addressing a crowd in Chungathra, she promised to be a strong advocate if elected, ensuring no one would be disappointed by her representation.
During her first electoral bid, Priyanka also criticized the BJP, accusing it of fostering division among communities and creating mistrust among religions. “In the past ten years, they have tried to plant seeds of fear, anger, hatred, and mistrust,” she remarked, adding that such divisions only serve to benefit those in power.
She further alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration has favored a few wealthy friends, transferring national assets such as ports, airports, and infrastructure projects to private business interests. Highlighting the delayed release of funds for flood-affected Wayanad, Priyanka stressed that Wayanad's unity and communal harmony exemplify the vision of Mahatma Gandhi, adding that representing this spirit in Parliament would be a privilege.
