Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee:-
The Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee members who had traveled from Amritsar to participate in a Women wrestlers' Maha Panchayat in front of the newly constructed Parliament building in the national capital were halted by the police at the Ambala border. The Delhi Police has taken steps to enhance security in the city, including at its borders, in anticipation of a march by the wrestlers towards the recently built Parliament building.
Khap Panchayats have organized a Mahila maha panchayat in order to show solidarity with the wrestlers who have been engaged in protests against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Singh serves as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and is also a Member of Parliament (MP) affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The wrestlers have come forward accusing Singh of sexual harassment, and numerous women wrestlers have taken the step of filing a police complaint against him.
In order to prevent any protests or gatherings, the Delhi Police has set up barricades at various points, such as the ITO road, Tikri border, Badarpur border, Ghazipur border, and the Singhu border area. Khap Panchayat leaders and farmers have expressed their intention to join the wrestlers' march to the new Parliament building.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Delhi, Amrutha Gugulot, stated that the Delhi Police is prepared for such situations and has sufficient forces deployed. They aim to avoid a situation like the previous long-lasting closure of the borders during the farmers' protests and will work to convince the protesters to return.
Delhi Police Special CP Deepender Pathak assured that adequate police deployment would be made to maintain law and order during the event.
The focus of the authorities is to ensure the smooth conduct of the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building while maintaining law and order. To address concerns of potential vandalism, Delhi Police has implemented heightened security measures around the premises of the new Parliament building throughout the day.
According to reliable sources within the Delhi Police, no permission has been granted for the panchayat. Consequently, the protesters will not be allowed to hold the Khap Panchayat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the newly constructed Parliament building as a component of the Central Vista redevelopment initiative.
