The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has confiscated several firearms from a residence in Surrey, British Columbia, following the emergence of a video showing people dancing with weapons at an event. While authorities have not officially identified the individuals in the footage or the property owner, social media accounts have linked the residence to Harjit Singh Pattar, an associate of slain pro-Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The video, allegedly filmed during a pre-wedding ceremony for Pattar's son, prompted an investigation by the Surrey RCMP's South Community Response Unit (SCRU). Superintendent Harm Dosange emphasized the alarming nature of the incident and assured that public safety remains their top priority.

The RCMP became aware of the video on Thursday morning and quickly confirmed the location. By 5:30 PM the same day, officers had seized multiple firearms from the property owner. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify all individuals present in the video.

Sources familiar with the situation claim that Pattar is associated with the secessionist group Sikhs for Justice. This incident has reignited concerns about potential weapons caches owned by pro-Khalistan elements in the Lower Mainland region.

The case draws attention to broader issues surrounding pro-Khalistan activism in Canada. In June, a Globe and Mail investigation reported that Nijjar allegedly led a group of men in weapons and GPS training in the Lower Mainland area in 2015.

As the RCMP continues its investigation, questions arise about the intersection of cultural events, activism, and public safety in the diverse community of Surrey. Authorities are expected to collaborate with multiple partner agencies to advance the investigation and address community concerns.
