The Japanese imperial family debuted on Instagram on Monday with a plethora of images. Their aim was to dispel their reputation as an enigmatic family and connect with a younger audience on social media.

For the past three months, Empress Masako and Emperor Naruhito have been appearing in public, and sixty images and five films featuring the family have been made available by the Imperial Household body, the government organization in charge of overseeing their activities.

Because Instagram is so popular among young people, the agency thought that by using it, the public would be more aware of the official responsibilities that families have. More than 2,70,000 people were following Kunaichojp, their verified account, as of Monday night.

A broad smile could be seen on the cheeks of the royal pair in the first picture of them that was made public. They were seen enjoying New Year's Day on a sofa with Princess Aiko, who was 22 years old at the time. The Imperial pair spoke about their interactions with prominent figures around the world in previous blogs. One such leader was the spouse of the Imperial, Haji Al-MuhtadeeBillah, the Crown Prince of Brunei.

In less than 24 hours, a video of Naruhito addressing guests at his birthday celebration on February 23rd amassed over 21,000 views. There are no informal or unguarded shots in the pictures; at least not yet. They can only show the family in their official capacities. According to the news source, the agency was considering incorporating the deeds of the other members of the royal family. Pupils like Koki Yoneura, 21, who is 21 years old, make comments along the lines of, "It's nice that we get to see a bit of their activities because we hardly know what they are doing." We benefit from their apparent closeness to us.

Experts speculate that the royal family may utilize social media to establish a more personal connection with the public, and that the agency may use it to steer the narrative and refute false information. Still, some question how the world's oldest monarchy can remain civilized and avert nuclear catastrophes without sacrificing its noble essence. The account doesn't follow or communicate with other accounts. Users are only able to "like" posts; they are unable to comment on them. The only avenue available to anyone who wish to get in touch with the imperial family is through the official website.
