Shashi Tharoor Expresses Humility and Gratitude for Induction In Congress Working Committee

Congress Member of Parliament, Shashi Tharoor, on Sunday extended his heartfelt gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge upon his induction as a full member of the Congress Working Committee. 

The Committee stands as the paramount decision-making body of the historic Indian National Congress.

In response to this significant honor, Shashi Tharoor expressed deep humility, recognizing the importance of this appointment. 

He conveyed his appreciation for becoming a part of this vital institution, standing alongside esteemed colleagues. In his words, he acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the countless party workers who form the lifeblood of the Congress.

Tharoor, who has represented Thiruvananthapuram as a Member of Parliament for three consecutive terms, has previously served as a Union Minister in the UPA government under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh. He was also a contender in the Congress presidential election last year, ultimately conceding victory to the incumbent Congress Chief, Mallikarjun Kharge.

This announcement marks the formation of the first Working Committee under Mallikarjun Kharge's presidency, following the reconstitution of the Congress Working Committee last on September 11, 2020, during Sonia Gandhi's presidency.

The formation of this new working committee has come to fruition after extensive rounds of deliberation. Notably, several prominent leaders have been inducted, including Shashi Tharoor, Sachin Pilot, and Manish Tewari, in anticipation of the upcoming high-stakes electoral season.

However, it's worth mentioning that the reconstituted Congress Working Committee excludes some notable figures, such as Raghuveer Singh Meena, Jai Prakash Aggarwal, Dinesh Gundu Rao, H K Patil, K H Muniappa, P L Punia, Pramod Tiwari, and Raghu Sharma.
