Tamil Nadu Inks MoUs with Google and Microsoft to Boost AI and Semiconductor Industries

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has signed several MoUs with Google and Microsoft during his US visit. The pacts focus on AI skilling initiatives and boosting semiconductor and smartphone manufacturing in the state. Tamil Nadu aims to strengthen its position as a technology hub, driving innovation and fostering a skilled workforce.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has signed major deals with Google and Microsoft to advance AI projects and semiconductor production in the region. When Stalin was recently visiting the United States, he inked several MoUs that are designed to further strengthen Tamil Nadu’s status as one of the premier technology destinations in India.
One of the major collaborations is with Google for AI skill enhancement where the state’s ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ skill development program aims to train two million youth of Tamil Nadu. This initiative is to create a workforce that is ready for the future, to improve employment and to strengthen the relationship with startups, MSMEs, and the rural economy.

During the meeting with Google’s top management, Stalin talked about increasing the manufacturing of Google Pixel mobiles in Tamil Nadu, which will help the state to become an even more significant player in the global electronics manufacturing industry. Also, the partnership focuses on the need to develop a quality manufacturing environment to encourage investment and employment.
Tamil Nadu is planning to set up a Global Capability Centre in association with Microsoft and also to enhance data center facilities in the state. This partnership also showcases AI skilling prospects and contributes to the advancement of modern technology.
Another significant agreement was made with Applied Materials India to establish an AI-based Center of Excellence for semiconductor manufacturing in Chennai. This development is expected to create over 500 technical jobs in the state, which is in line with Tamil Nadu’s vision to build a robust semiconductor industry.
These initiatives show Tamil Nadu’s intent to lead technological advancement and enhance its position as a key hub for AI and manufacturing in Asia.
