The historical epic RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, could not win the Golden Globe for Best Non-English Language Film. It went up against All Quiet on the Western Front by Germany, Argentina's Argentina, 1985 (the winner), Close by Belgium, and Decision to Leave by South Korea. RRR previously won Best Original Song for "Naatu Naatu."The Golden Globes are a significant forerunner to the Academy Awards. The event was broadcast after a one-year hiatus, during which the industry virtually banned it due to severe allegations of behind-the-scenes diversity and a lack of openness in the selection process.

Aside from RRR, prominent nominees include The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once, which received 6 and 5 nominations, respectively.
