President-elect Trump urged his supporters to assist the financially strained Democrats, highlighting Kamala Harris's campaign debt despite record fundraising. The campaign faced a disconnect with key voter groups, including middle-class Americans, prompting figures like Congresswoman Jayapal to stress the need for Democrats to address everyday issues more effectively.

On Saturday, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump took an unusual step by encouraging his supporters to help alleviate the Democratic Party’s financial strain following the general elections. Trump's appeal came as it was revealed that Kamala Harris’s campaign ended with $20 million in debt, despite having raised over $1 billion. The campaign reported $118 million left in funds by October 16.

Posting on X, Trump expressed surprise over the Democrats' financial situation, highlighting the importance of unity. “They raised a record amount but are now being squeezed by vendors. We should help during this period of financial difficulty,” he said, adding that the Trump campaign benefited significantly from free media coverage.

Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, raised a historic $2.3 billion through campaign contributions and Super PACs, yet her campaign faced notable challenges. Ajay Jain Bhutoria, a prominent Harris campaign fundraiser, explained that while they attracted high-profile endorsements and celebrity backing, this strategy fell short in resonating with key middle-class voters. Many voters, particularly in battleground states, voiced concerns over economic struggles, immigration, and healthcare costs. These issues contributed to the loss of traditional Democratic support from groups such as Indian Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, and Muslim Americans.

Bhutoria pointed to a shift in voter support, especially in states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, where communities felt Trump more effectively addressed their needs. Indian Americans, for instance, raised concerns about immigration, U.S.-India relations, and rising living costs. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal urged Democrats to learn from the results and better communicate their impact on voters' lives, acknowledging the gap between elite fundraising strategies and Americans' everyday concerns.
