In a disturbing incident during a Ganesh idol immersion procession in Davangere, tensions escalated into violence, resulting in the arrest of thirty individuals for stone pelting on Thursday night. Two people, including a female constable, sustained injuries amid the chaos.

The confrontation occurred near Beturu Road and Aralimara Circle, reportedly stemming from a previous dispute over the removal of a Muharram flag. As the procession passed through Venkateswara Circle, members from one community allegedly shouted slogans, igniting a fierce exchange with another group that ultimately led to the stone pelting.

Local police quickly intervened, with Superintendent Uma Prashant directing efforts to control the crowd. Officers utilized batons to restore order, while the injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Although immediate violence subsided, the atmosphere in the area remains tense.

This incident follows a similar clash just five days earlier, also linked to the Muharram flag dispute. The arrival of Satish Pujari, a leader from a pro-Hindu organization, reportedly incited further tensions, attracting large crowds from both communities.

Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV and mobile footage to identify those responsible, and cases have been registered against a leader accused of inciting violence. Despite heightened police presence, officials anticipate additional arrests may follow.
