WhatsApp has introduced new interactive features for status updates, rolling out to Android users through the Google Play Beta Program. These updates bring Instagram-inspired elements to WhatsApp, aiming to boost engagement and enhance user interaction on the platform. One key feature, "Add Yours," lets users create customizable sticker prompts, encouraging their contacts to respond with their own content. For instance, a user might post a picture with a prompt asking others to share similar images, creating a collaborative experience.

WhatsApp is also testing other features, like poll-style updates for iOS users, as part of its effort to provide more creative options for sharing content. This shift toward interactivity follows the introduction of other Instagram-like features, such as the ability to see statuses through a green circle around the contact's profile picture and “likes” on statuses.

While inspired by Instagram, WhatsApp’s approach maintains privacy by ensuring that users cannot see who started a sticker trend or view other participants' responses. End-to-end encryption remains a priority, distinguishing WhatsApp’s status updates from Instagram’s similar features.

The platform may also introduce a viewing list feature in future updates, displaying contacts who have seen each status. These changes come as WhatsApp seeks to make its status updates more engaging and visible to users, allowing them to share personal stories and build creative trends.
