New Delhi, July 2023 – In a significant development in the ongoing feud between wrestlers and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), Brij Bhushan Singh, the President of the WFI, has been summoned by a Delhi court in connection with a harassment case.


The court’s decision comes amidst mounting tensions and allegations of mistreatmentwithin the wrestling community. The summons, issued by Avenue court in Delhi, came after a complaint was filed by a group of wrestlers who accused Brij Bhushan Singh of harassment, mental torture, and misuse of his position.

The complainants, several prominent wrestlers with national and international acclaim, allege that Singh has created a hostile environment within the wrestling fraternity. According to the complainants, Singh has been involved in a series of incidents that have impacted wrestlers' mental well-being and professional growth.


They claim that the WFI President has misused his authority to manipulate the selection process, favoring certain wrestlers over others. Furthermore, the wrestlers allege that Singh has been disrespectful and abusive towards them, making derogatory remarks that have affected their self-esteem and confidence.


The court’s decision to summon Brij Bhushan Singh indicates the seriousness of the allegations and the need for a fair investigation. The summons mandates Singh to appear before the court to provide his statement and address the allegations brought against him.

Brij Bhushan Singh, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the former Wrestling Chief of India, has received a summons from a court in Delhi regarding allegations of sexual harassment made against him by several top female wrestlers in the country.

This legal development has heightened the tensions between the wrestlers and the WFI, with supporters from both sides closely following the case. The case has garnered significant attention from the media and the public, as it raises important questions about the treatment of athletes and the responsibilities of sports federations in India.

The court has also issued a summons to Vinod Tomar, the Assistant Secretary of Brij Bhushan Singh. Brij Bhushan Singh, a six-term member of parliament, was charged by with violating sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with the purpose to shock her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.


Tomar was also accused of violating the IPC’s section 109 (abetting any offense, if the act is performed as a result and no specific provision is provided for its punishment), 354, 354A, and 506 (criminal intimidation).
