12 workers killed in Chhattisgarh, Durg as bus fell into ditch: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends condolences

Twelve people were killed and fourteen were injured when a bus carrying employees of a private company lost control and crashed into a ditch on Tuesday while traveling through the Kumhari locality in the Durg district of Chhattisgarh.

According to Durg's collector, Richa Prakash Choudhary, the bus was crammed full with laborers. According to the collector, the bus crashed into a "murum," which is a dirt mining pit, on Tuesday night.

According to Choudhary, who spoke with PTI, the workers' bus crashed into a ditch close to Kumhari at around 8:30 p.m., killing roughly twelve people. In addition, fourteen other people were hurt and sent to a hospital to receive treatment.

She was aware that the injured had been transported by air to the AIIMS in Raipur.

Twelve of the injured were transported to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur, while two are presently undergoing care at a private clinic. She went on to state that their situations are now stable and that we are giving them the finest care possible.

As of this writing, it is still unknown what caused the accident.

The local government has started looking into the incident.

Following this, Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu DeoSai wrote an apology for the incident on his official X account, which was formerly linked to Twitter.

He sent his sympathies after learning about the accident involving a bus carrying workers from a private company near Kumhari in Durg.

My hope and prayer is that the Almighty may provide the departed's souls peace and give the bereaved families courage. We have made the required preparations to guarantee that the wounded employees get the care they require. He also sent his warmest regards for a quick recovery.
