Police Initiate An Investigation Regarding The Gang Violence Following An Assault In A Parking Lot.

One person was shot to death and six others were injured in the very late shooting that happened at the Paris suburb of Sevran on Friday, what the police considered as a linked act of the drug trafficking and gang war in the area.

The gunfire erupted around 11:45 pm in an outdoor parking lot near the cultural center of the run-down northern part of the city, which is located between central Paris and the city's main Charles de Gaulle airport. The first police officers arrived and found a chaotic scene, with four people lying injured on the ground, one of whom was confirmed dead very shortly after medical care was provided. The three other victims were in critical condition and were taken to the closest hospitals.

Afterward, three people turned up at the hospital with gunshot injuries that are believed to have been caused by the same incident. Seemingly, two men drove up in a car, and one of them jumped out and started to shoot, after which they left the place.

"It is a closure account to drug trafficking", said Sevran mayor Stephane Blanchet to AFP. "It is therefore necessary to establish order and crush it. Those crazy guys fired live bullets and paid no heed to the calls for calm."

Police have launched a criminal investigation on this case under the charges of the premeditated murder by the organized crime gang although no arrests had been made as of Saturday morning. The shooting represents a reoccurrence of drug-related violence in the Paris suburbs on the outskirts of the city.
