Adipurush's Kumbhkarna, played by actor Lavi Pajni, has joined the chorus of disappointment regarding the film's colloquial dialogues. Pajni expressed his discontent, explaining that due to the movie's non-linear shooting style, the actors were unaware of the exact screenplay or how their performances would be portrayed on screen.
The film, Adipurush, has faced severe criticism for its dialogues penned by Manoj Muntashir and certain scenes that have not resonated well with the audience. Many celebrities have also voiced their concerns about the movie's treatment of the Hindu epic, Ramayana. The contentious dialogues that have drawn flak include phrases like 'Marega Bete' (Will die, son), 'Bua Ka Bagicha Hain Kya' (Is it your aunt's garden?), and 'Jalegi Tere Baap Ki' (Your father will burn).
Lavi Pajni, amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding Adipurush, expressed his offense at the dialogues as a fellow Hindu. Despite being a part of the film, Pajni clarified that actors are contractually bound to follow the director's instructions. He also highlighted the fact that movies are created in fragments, with nobody knowing how the final screenplay will turn out.
Furthermore, the film's dialogue writer, Manoj Muntashir, faces additional trouble. The Allahabad High Court has granted an application to include Muntashir as a respondent in a plea seeking a stay on the film's screening. The court issued a notice to Muntashir and questioned the potential actions that can be taken under the Cinematograph Act 1952. The next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
Earlier, during a hearing on a plea regarding controversial dialogues in Adipurush, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court heavily criticized both the censor board and the film's makers. The court raised doubts about the censor board's purpose and how it impacts the shaping of future values. Additionally, the absence of the producer, director, and other involved parties during the hearing was also questioned.
Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush features Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti as Janaki, Sunny Singh as Lakshman, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, and Devdutt Nage as Bajrang. Despite the altered dialogues, the movie's popularity has significantly decreased in theaters.
