Bank Manager Arrested in ₹4 Crore Gold Theft Case

Four bank staff members, including the senior manager who reported a theft of ₹4 crore worth of gold, have been arrested in Imphal. The police discovered tampering with the bank's strong room lock after a complaint was filed. CCTV footage showed two individuals in the manager's chamber before the cameras stopped recording. The suspects have been remanded in police custody for five days as investigations continue.
In a surprising turn of events, four bank staff members, including the senior manager who initially reported a theft of gold worth ₹4 crore, have been arrested in connection with the incident at the Bank of Baroda branch on the Manipur University campus in Imphal. The arrests were made by a special investigation team (SIT) formed to probe the theft, which occurred on September 12.
The four suspects identified are senior manager Ningombam Ganga, along with staff members Khaidem Jackiechan (38), Gary Moirangthem (21), and Akoijam Renash (20). Following a complaint lodged by Ganga on September 17, police discovered that the strong room's lock had been tampered with and several packets of gold were missing.

CCTV footage from the bank revealed two individuals inside the manager’s chamber at 1:41 AM on the night of the burglary, just before the cameras ceased functioning. The suspects were presented before a duty magistrate on September 20, who remanded them into police custody for five days.
