Chirag Paswan Backs Nitish Kumar’s Return as CM, Slams Opposition Over Operation Sindoor

Union Minister Chirag Paswan backed Nitish Kumar’s return as Bihar CM and reaffirmed NDA’s strength under PM Modi. Criticising the Opposition for politicising Operation Sindoor and attacking the Army, Paswan defended electoral roll revisions and dismissed claims of rebellion, asserting his concern for Bihar’s law and order was genuine.

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Monday predicted that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would return to power after the upcoming assembly elections. Speaking to reporters, Paswan called the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) a “winning combination” and reiterated his loyalty to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating the elections would be fought under Modi’s leadership.

“After the results, Nitish Kumar will definitely take oath again as Chief Minister,” said Paswan, who recently drew attention for expressing regret over supporting the Nitish-led government, accusing it of surrendering to criminal elements.

Addressing other political developments, Paswan accused the opposition of attacking the Army in their bid to criticise PM Modi over Operation Sindoor. He emphasized that the military conducted the operation and credited the Prime Minister’s resolve for its success. “Putting a question mark on our Army to attack Modi is shameful,” he said.

Paswan also defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, stating that it was not a new or biased exercise but a technological upgrade of existing processes. Responding to criticism, he asserted that only incorrect registrations would be removed, and there would be no injustice.

On RJD MP Manoj Jha’s call for a fact-finding committee on Bihar’s law and order, Paswan dismissed the idea, claiming his own concern for his state’s situation should not be seen as rebellion.

He further alleged that the opposition’s strategy revolves around weakening the NDA, as it lacks the strength to win independently. Calling out their tactics, Paswan criticized their demand for a special Parliament session on Operation Sindoor, only to disrupt it once convened.
