Faridabad Police Nab Gangster in Shootout, Injured Suspect Under Treatment

Faridabad Police arrested gangster Vipin Kumar, wanted in 12 cases, following a shootout. Living under a false identity, Kumar was injured in the encounter and confessed to recent thefts. Authorities are pursuing other gang members involved in interstate crimes, marking a significant step in combating organized crime in the region.
Faridabad Police apprehended Vipin Kumar, a 30-year-old gangster wanted in at least 12 robbery and theft cases, following a late-night shootout on Wednesday. Kumar, who had been out on bail and living under a false identity in Sector 77, Faridabad, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the encounter.
According to Assistant Police Commissioner (Crime) Aman Yadav, the shootout unfolded when a crime branch team intercepted Kumar’s vehicle near Chandila Chowk in Greater Faridabad after receiving a tip-off. When cornered after a brief chase, Kumar opened fire on the police, prompting them to retaliate in self-defense. He was subsequently overpowered and taken to a civil hospital for treatment.
Kumar, originally from Bihar, is part of an interstate gang responsible for a series of crimes across Faridabad, Noida, and Gurugram. During interrogation, he admitted to his gang’s involvement in recent electronic shop thefts in Faridabad’s NIT area. Police are now intensifying their efforts to track down other members of the gang and dismantle their network.
