Tanya Hemanth, an Indian badminton player was asked by the organizers of Iran Fajr International Challenge to wear a headscarf before stepping onto the podium to acknowledge her gold medal after victory in the singles tournament at Iran.
As per the report, the organizers allegedly requested the 19 year old badminton player to wear a headscarf for the medal ceremony as protocol.

The document pertaining to the tournament's curriculum even addressed the clothing rules according to the Badminton World Federation's regulations. Although everyone knows that headscarves should be worn by women going out in Tehran, there was no mention of any such use of scarfs throughout the competition.
According to the news reports, the women's tournament was scheduled in the morning, while the men's tournament was scheduled during the afternoon. Men and women badminton players were only seen together on the court during mixed double matches.
Besides, the women's badminton tournament was only open to female viewers. All match officials in women's matches were female and male parents who accompanied their daughters to the tournament were not allowed to view any matches.
