Karnataka minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan defended the display of Palestinian flags during Milad-ul-Nabi processions, igniting a political debate after the BJP raised objections. Khan argued that holding the Palestinian flag was not wrong, as India has historically supported Palestine. He criticized the BJP for making an issue out of the flag's presence, emphasizing that while slogans in favor of other nations could be problematic, holding a flag was not a traitorous act.

Khan’s comments came in response to the detention of six minors in Chikkamagaluru for waving Palestinian flags during a religious procession. The incident sparked widespread controversy on social media, with many questioning the symbolism of the flag in such events. The flag was also confiscated in other regions, including Chitradurga and Davanagere, where tensions escalated after pro-Palestinian slogans were chanted.

Former Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra condemned the flag displays, urging an investigation into whether these acts were coordinated attempts to incite communal unrest. Meanwhile, current Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed that arrests had been made, but added that an investigation is ongoing to determine the individuals behind the incidents.
