Anti-National Activities Continues

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant breakthrough on Wednesday as they apprehended another prime accused in the Bihar case related to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), bringing the total number of arrests to 15.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Yaqub Khan, also known as Sultan or Usman, hails from District East Champaran, Bihar. The arrest was carried out in connection with the NIA case 31/2022/NIA/DLI, which pertains to the unlawful and anti-national activities of PFI members.

Before this, NIA had already detained 14 individuals and seized several pieces of evidence related to the case, with four of them being charged on January 7.

During their investigations, NIA revealed that Yaqub Khan played a pivotal role as an expert Arms Trainer for the PFI, conducting numerous training sessions to further the outfit's aggressive and violent agenda.

Additionally, he was responsible for procuring arms and ammunition to launch an attack on a youth from a specific community, to incite communal hatred. Moreover, he used social media to upload controversial videos, aimed at promoting enmity among various communities.

Yaqub Khan had been evading capture since early February when the houses of PFI members were raided. Despite the Central Government's ban on the PFI, he remained in contact with other accused individuals, including Reyaz Moarif, Md Belal alias Irshad, Afroz, and his associate Md Sajjad Alam in Dubai (UAE) through WhatsApp.

His attempts to hide took him to various locations, including Bettiah district in Bihar, Pokhra in Nepal, and Mumbai, where he stayed with family and friends.

The NIA has confiscated Yaqub Khan's SIM cards and mobile phone and is currently examining them to gather further leads in the case.

According to the NIA's investigations, even after the ban on the PFI, the organization continues to propagate its toxic and communal agenda, engaging in efforts to procure arms and ammunition for carrying out criminal activities and attacks.
