Prime Minister Modi remembered the 2016 Uri surgical strike, highlighting India's tough stance against terrorism under his leadership. At an election rally, he criticized Congress’s passive approach to cross-border violence and expressed confidence in BJP’s victory in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, promising peace and development for the region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday commemorated the 2016 surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), emphasizing India’s strong response to terrorism. Speaking at an election rally in Jammu, Modi reminded the audience of the September 28, 2016, operation when Indian forces targeted terrorist camps in PoK following a deadly attack on an army base in Uri that killed 19 soldiers.
Recalling the strikes, Modi remarked, “This is the new India; it enters homes and kills. The terror masters know that if they try anything, Modi will find them even in hell.” The surgical strike was widely celebrated in India as a powerful response to terrorism.
The Prime Minister also took aim at the Congress, accusing them of responding passively to cross-border violence. “When bullets were fired from that side, the Congress used to wave white flags,” Modi said, contrasting his government’s approach with that of previous administrations.
During his speech, Modi also criticized the Congress, National Conference (NC), and People's Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of fostering corruption, discrimination, and unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that the people of the region are fed up with the existing political dynasties and are now yearning for peace, development, and a better future.
