Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain has filed a defamation suit against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bansuri Swaraj, accusing her of making baseless and malicious statements that damaged his reputation. The case, filed at the Rouse Avenue Court, will be heard on Tuesday, December 10.

Jain alleges that during an interview broadcast on October 5, 2023, Swaraj falsely accused him of possessing ₹3 crores, 1.8 kilograms of gold, and 133 gold coins, labeling him "corrupt" and "fraud." He claims the statements were politically motivated, intended to tarnish his reputation and gain political advantage.

The AAP leader argues that these remarks caused severe harm to his personal and professional standing, impacting his role as a public figure and his relationships within his family and society. Jain describes the accusations as part of a deliberate smear campaign aimed at discrediting him.

Jain's legal complaint follows previous accusations against Swaraj, including allegations by AAP leader Somnath Bharti, who contested Swaraj's New Delhi Lok Sabha victory, citing "corrupt practices."
